We just finished reading "The Julian Chapter." There were so many interesting things to consider:
Did it turn out they way you expected (before I gave you the "hint.")? What did you learn? What life lessons can you take from this story? I can't wait to read your responses!! Today kick's off Read Across America which coincides each year with the birthday of Dr. Seuss. His books were and are great fun for kids, but they also help them learn important lessons about life. Let's think about the book Green Eggs and Ham, published in 1960.
The tall (and unnamed) character could not be convinced by Sam-I-Am to try green eggs and ham because he was sure he would not like them. Once he tried them, however, he loved them! Write about a time you did not want to try a certain food or a new activity. What made you decide to finally try it? How did you like it once you tried it? What advice would you give to someone who was afraid to try something new? What do you think could be going on in this picture? Explain what you think could be happening in the picture as well as what could have happened BEFORE the action in the picture that led to this and what you think will happen AFTER this action is over.
Imagine that we were to create a time capsule (a metal container filled with objects) and bury it to teach future archaeologists about how we live today.
What three objects would you select to place in the time capsule to help them understand what life is like for kids in the year 2021? List the three objects you would select and explain why they are important. Although I'm sure you are sleepy today and wishing you were still in bed, I am very happy to be back in class (on on Zoom) with you today!
Since 23 days have passed since we last met, please answer the following questions to help us all get caught-up on one another's lives. 1. How did you spend your time on vacation? 2. What were some of your favorite things in 2021? Favorite song? Favorite game? Favorite movie? 3. What are some goals (large or small) that you have for 2022? 4. What else would you like to tell us about today? (If your answer is "nothing," you don't need to answer number 4.) Have you ever known two animals that seemed to be friends?
What do you think makes a good “friendship” for an animal? What makes a good friendship for human beings?
